Crafted by Malt Master David C. Stewart, the Balvenie DoubleWood 17 year old single malt whisky undergoes the consecutive maturation in two different types of cask, a process often referred to as ‘cask finishing’. This technique stems at the heart of the Balvenie DoubleWood, as its maturation in American oak barrels helps impart its soft sweet vanilla notes while its ageing in European oak sherry casks adds to its rich spicy flavours, its depth, and fullness of flavour.

The Balvenie 17-year-old Double Wood also shares similar characteristics to the DoubleWood 12-year-old, with both having honeyed and spicy flavours. Distinctively, the Balvenie 17-year-old Double Wood has deeper vanilla notes, hints of green apple, creamy toffee and a striking richness and complexity.
